Read multiple books at the same time
There is a myth that reading several books at the same time is a bad habit. But my daughter and I do not agree! Let's imagine a Saturday morning: we are slowly preparing breakfast according to a book of literary recipes, then we have a picnic like in a fairy tale, inspired by the example of Tilda the mouse. But who is it that has joined us? Titmouse? Let's check the book "Birds in the City", note in the diary. Let's collect tree leaves for a herbarium or for a painting inspired by "A Year in the Forest". And what if instead of a picnic we have a cultural walk? You can't do without the myths of Ancient Greece! In St. Petersburg, for example, you can see Apollo surrounded by muses... After meeting mermaids on the rostral columns, we will certainly open the "Atlas of Mermaids", and before going to bed, it is doubly interesting to read about the mermaid Una. And so, the evening comes for my mother. Depending on the mood, I read Korean myths, a Japanese book about parenting, I can take non-fiction about how to work at home. Or I will discover something from the classics, because we are still waiting for a theatrical summer. In life, I can't limit myself to one area of interest, and I can't read just one book. And thanks to MIF for the fact that there are so many wonderful publications!
Read aloud
Our favorite family habit is reading aloud to our son in the evenings. He's eleven now, but in the evening and before going to bed, we read the classics together that I loved as a child, and that's the most enjoyable part of the day. We both can't give up this habit. And it all started a long time ago: when I was pregnant with my son, I read somewhere that it is useful for a child to hear the voices of parents even before birth... My husband and I took turns reading "The Little Prince" aloud for the baby in my stomach. Since then, our home library has grown to an untransportable size, thanks in large part to MYTH – it's impossible to look away from these luxurious books! And reading has become the motto and hallmark of our family. We love reading and luxurious books with the whole family. We read everything and everywhere – my son, me, and my husband.
Writing thoughts in the margins of pages
I will share a few reading habits at once. First of all, I really like to read several books at the same time. Secondly, I love writing my thoughts in the margins, folding the corners of the pages and making creases on the spine. In general, I read books in such a way that it is clear that they have been read.
Do not read annotations, keep a calendar and buy new books
- Buy a book if you like the cover.
- Do not read annotations and reviews before reading the book.
- Fall asleep with a book in your hands.
- Buy new books without reading the old ones.
- Constantly replenish the list of "wishlists".
- Play Tetris with books on the rack to fit as much as possible.
- Look at how many pages there are in the book and be sure to notice when half of it is read.
- Read to the end of the chapter, even if there is little time left for sleep.
- Ask friends to bring bookmarks from trips, because this is the best souvenir.
- Read two or three books of different genres at the same time.
- Watch the cast before reading the book, if there is a film adaptation.
- Always take a book with you (even to the store.
- Look at the end of the book, because you are very worried about the characters.
- Keep a calendar of pages read every day.
- Tap your fingers on the cover of a book while reading.
- Keep a close eye on guests who come up to the rack and are interested in books.
- Be outraged by the cost of books, but still buy tons of them.
Take "The Master and Margarita" on trips
Leaving a book in the park
Leave the house with a book, read with a pencil and certainly go to the bookstore
- Leave the house with a book. Even if I know that I am not going to read it. What if there is a queue? What if it takes longer than usual? What if I get out early? Or you will just be in the mood for "urgently read"!
- Read only with a pencil. It is very important for me to communicate with the story and the author on the pages of the book. Sometimes I argue with the characters, get indignant, express my opinion, emphasize what I would like to remember.
- Compare impressions. Before I start reading, I write the date and a few words in the book with a pencil about what I expect from the book. And when I'm done, I write the date and impressions. As a result, it is very interesting to compare before and after.
- On any trip, go to a bookstore and buy a book. So that it reminds you of a new place later.
- Read several books at the same time. And no, the plots are not confused. So I manage to visit a submarine in the morning, spend the day in a bookstore in another country, and before going to bed I go to fly dragons.

Make a reading plan and write lists
- Make a reading plan and not follow it.
- Write endless lists of books.
- Give the book a second, or even a third chance.
- Read passages aloud.
- Read controversial books.
- To put in the most visible place the books that I am about to take up.
- Lay pages with commemorative postcards.
